Clinton River
Clinton River Area of Concern (AOC)
The Clinton River AOC, located just north of the city of Detroit, encompasses the entire Clinton River watershed. Although historical industrial and municipal discharges were the primary reason for poor water quality in the Clinton River AOC, ongoing contamination problems have been caused by multiple sources. Contaminants found in the Clinton River include heavy metals such as mercury, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), E. coli, oil and grease.
