Infection Control Assessment and Response
ICARs are free, non-regulatory visits performed by the HAI/AR team at MDHHS to assess infection prevention and control (IPC) practices and guide IPs on improvement activities. Our team of nurse consultants and IPs utilize the CDC's ICAR modules to systematically assess IPC practices including hand hygiene, transmission-based precautions, cleaning and disinfection, environmental services, device reprocessing, and other topic areas. The average ICAR takes 2-3 hours and is customizable to the needs of the healthcare facility.
Our team of nurse consultants and IPs perform ICARs across the continuum of care including:
- Acute care and critical access hospitals
- Long-term care facilities
- Dialysis facilities
- Other congregate care facilities
