COPD

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, is a long-term lung disease where airways and air sacs in the lungs are inflamed and damaged, making breathing difficult. COPD is sometimes called chronic bronchitis or emphysema. Millions of Americans are diagnosed with COPD in the United States every year.

Climate Change

Ground-level ozone, particulate matter (PM), specifically fine particles known as PM2.5 and aeroallergens (substances in the air that can cause allergic reactions) can affect a COPD patient’s ability to breathe. These factors can be worsened by climate change. Helping to reduce climate change and adapt to its impacts can help people breathe easier.
