Each year, more than 100,000 babies are born in Michigan. Most pregnancies, births and babies are healthy. However, a small proportion of families may have complications. Certain genetic, behavioral, social and environmental factors can affect ability to conceive, carry, and deliver a healthy, full-term baby.
In 2022, for every 1,000 live births, about 6 babies died before their first birthday (MDHHS Vital Statistics). Reproductive and birth outcomes data are available on the MiTracking Data Portal.
