Michigan Syndromic Surveillance System
The Michigan Syndromic Surveillance System (MSSS) is a statewide system that collects real-time or near-real-time health data from emergency departments and urgent care facilities. It monitors patterns of symptoms and illnesses (syndromes) to detect potential outbreaks, unusual disease trends, or public health threats quickly, helping local and state public health authorities respond proactively.
