The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the physical therapist license of Mark R. Melton, P.T. The MDCH Bureau of Health Professions orders a summary suspension when it believes that the public's health, safety, and welfare warrant emergency action.

Based on an Investigation conducted by the Bureau of Health Professions, Melton's license was summarily suspended. The summary suspension was based, in part, on Melton's admission to having a physical relationship with a patient which included kissing, touching, and oral sex. Additionally, it was alleged that Melton had required an employee to engage in oral sex against her will, and as a requirement for continued employment.

On Dec. 21, 2007, the MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Melton's license pursuant to the Public Health Code. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Melton's physical therapist license.
