What Are Thought Partners? What Do They Do?
In February 2018, key leaders within Michigan state government participated in the Guiding NEAR Training Series, which included three six-hour workshops. The Training Series focused on NEAR (neuroscience, epigenetics, adverse childhood experiences [ACEs], and resilience) science, as well as strategies for applying these concepts into state-led activities, programs and policies.
Those key state leaders agreed to be thought partners to help expand activities, programs and policies across Michigan that could help prevent and address ACEs, trauma, and toxic stress among our residents.
Today, the NEAR Collaborative is guided by a Steering Committee and the leaders who serve as NEAR Collaborative Thought Partners, which include individuals at all levels within our state systems who are committed to advancing the Collaborative's mission and vision and addressing ACEs, trauma, and toxic stress utilizing upstream approaches.
