The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the registered nurse license of Barbara Ann Taylor-Gaw, R.N., based on her felony conviction in the 21st Judicial Circuit Court, Isabella County, Michigan. Taylor-Gaw failed to report her conviction to MDCH as required by the Public Health Code.
On September 28, 2005, Taylor-Gaw was convicted of Larceny in a Building, a felony. As a result, Taylor-Gaw was sentenced to 30 days in jail (pending successful completion of probation), placed on probation for 24 months with terms, and ordered to pay $3,570 in fines, fees, and costs.
On January 10, 2006, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Taylor-Gaw’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health’s professional’s license upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Taylor-Gaw’s registered nurse license.
