MDHHS Summarily Suspends Adult Foster Care License in Wayne County
June 09, 2014
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing (BCAL) has issued an order of summary suspension and notice of intent to revoke the license of a Wayne County adult foster care small group home.
The licensee is Strathmoor Manor, LLC, License #AS820284341, 12866 Strathmoor St., Detroit.
This action resulted from a recent investigation of the facility. The May 28, 2014, complaint investigation found violations of the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act and administrative rules regarding the care of residents. BCAL took emergency action to protect the health, welfare and safety of vulnerable adults.
Effective June 2, the summary suspension order prohibits Strathmoor Manor from operating its adult foster care small group home at 12866 Strathmoor St. It may not accept for care individuals with physical or developmental disabilities or mental illnesses or aged adults effective June 2. The order requires Strathmoor to inform all guardians of adults in its care that its license has been suspended and that it can no longer provide adult foster care at this address.
Strathmoor Manor, LLC has held a license to operate an adult foster care small group home since October 2006. The license was for six adults.
Michigan law defines an adult foster care small group home as “an adult foster care facility with the approved capacity to receive 12 or fewer adults to be provided with foster care.”
Licensees have the right to appeal this suspension. The case is being forwarded to the Michigan Administrative Hearing System for a hearing date.
