LANSING, Mich. – The Aging & Adult Services Agency (AASA), under the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for elder and vulnerable adult abuse prevention services.

Eligible applicants include government and educational organizations, public, nonprofit and faith-based entities and American Indian Tribes that provide prevention services to populations at risk of elder or vulnerable adult abuse.

MDHHS works to ensure all people at risk for elder or vulnerable adult abuse have access to prevention services and that survivors have access to a range of resources. In an attempt to achieve these outcomes, each year AASA releases a RFP to support new or ongoing elder abuse prevention and detection efforts; raise awareness through education through presentations, materials, counseling and mediation; identify and replicate best practices; and provide trainings in the areas of elder abuse laws, reporting, screening, bullying and mental health issues.

The funding priorities for this application period include proposals that develop or enhance new or existing services; demonstrate financial or other value to survivors, family members and the community; and identify measurable objectives, metrics and outcomes, where applicable.

Grants starting at $25,000 are available for organizations to provide these services.
Grant applications must be submitted electronically through the MI E-Grants program by July 12 at 3 p.m. The Prevention of Elder and Vulnerable Adult project period is Oct. 1, 2018 – Sept. 30, 2019.

For more information or to apply, visit the MI E-Grants website and select the "About EGrAMS" link to access the "Competitive Application Instructions" training manual.  The complete Request for Proposal document can be accessed on the MI E-Grants website in the ‘Current Grants’ section by selecting the “Aging and Adult Services” link and accessing “PRVNT-2019” grant program.
