St. Clair Shores

St. Clair Shores Superfund Site

The St. Claire Shores Superfund Site, also known as the Ten Mile Drain site, is located in Macomb County. Historically, the sediment of the Ten Mile/Lange/Revere canals and the drain discharging into the canals have been contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). PCBs have also been found in fish sampled from the Ten Mile/Lange/Revere Canals. The most likely way for people to be exposed to PCBs from the canals is by eating fish or other food caught from the canals.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has issued a “Do Not Eat” Advisory for all fish caught in the Lange and Revere Canals in St. Clair Shores due to PCBs.
