Final Steps for Agency Providers

Meet with the Home Help Beneficiary's MDHHS Adult Services Worker (ASW)

When a Home Help client chooses to receive services from your agency, they must share their decision with their MDHHS adult services worker (ASW).  The ASW must meet with the Home Help client and either an authorized agency representative or the agency caregiver(s) assigned to the Home Help client before the ASW can authorize payments to your agency.

Report EVV

Beginning July 1, 2024, Home Help Agency Providers are required to use Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for Home Help beneficiaries. Agencies are expected to report EVV along with prepare and train their caregivers on the use of EVV.  Policy information can be found in the Michigan Medicaid Provider Manual, Electronic Visit Verification chapter. Visit the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) webpage for complete instructions.

Once the portal setup is complete Agencies will need to access the HHAX provider portal to access training materials, add their caregivers, review EVV information reported by caregivers, and more. The HHAX portal also houses access to training materials and resources within the Agency knowledge base. Which includes resources for agencies to use and setup their HHAX provider portal as well as resources to train your agency caregivers.  For questions regarding the HHAeXchange system or technical help visit the Michigan Information Center website at www.hhaexchange.com/info-hub/Michigan.

Home Help Agencies required to use EVV and those exempt from EVV must continue to use the current service method, MSA-1904 Home Help Agency Invoice. Payments will continue to be based on the data recorded on the current service verification method until further notice. Policy information can be found in the Michigan Medicaid Provider Manual, Electronic Visit Verification chapter.

Submit the MSA-1904

Once services have been provided submit the MSA-1904 which includes an accurate record of the authorized Home Help services that were provided on each day of the billing period. A separate MSA-1904 must be submitted for each beneficiary to which services were provided.

Payment will not be released until the MSA-1904 has been received and verified by the beneficiary’s local county MDHHS office.
