For Immediate Release: April 9, 2014

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Office of Services to the Aging (OSA) through the Commission on Services to the Aging has designated St. Joseph County as a “Community for a Lifetime” (CFL), in recognition of their efforts to become more age-friendly.

“I want to personally thank St. Joseph County for their commitment to become a more age-friendly community by participating in the Community for a Lifetime program. Their efforts should be commended and will certainly help improve the lives of those living in their communities.” said OSA Director Kari Sederburg.

Established in 2007, the CFL is part of a nationwide effort to respond to the needs of a rapidly aging population. To qualify for CFL recognition, a community conducts a self-assessment or initiates an improvement that meets the program’s aging-friendly goals.
