Shanlian will be responsible for the internal day-to-day operations of the office and will play a critical role in the development of statewide strategic initiatives for aging programs, services, and supports.
"Leslie brings a wealth of knowledge to our leadership staff and we are very excited to have her join our team," said Kari Sederburg, OSA director. "Her experience will be invaluable as OSA looks to shape the future direction of aging services in the state."
Prior to joining OSA, Shanlian served as the director of the Long Term Care Division in the Bureau of Health Care Services in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). During her time at LARA she oversaw nursing home inspections, the Nurse Aide Registry Program, and the Workforce Background Check Program.
Shanlian has worked in the aging field for more than 25 years and has spent a majority of her time working in operations for nursing homes, senior independent and assisted living communities, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics, and a Master of Science degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University.
