Kindergarten Dental Assessments Help Children Succeed in School
Dental problems can cause distracting pain and make it difficult for children to concentrate, can prevent them from eating and sleeping well, and can affect their socialization, sense of self-esteem, and behavior. All of this can prevent children from reaching their full learning potential and succeeding in school. Students will benefit from having a dental assessment because it will identify those who may have issues requiring dental care and connect them to that care.
How Schools Can Facilitate KOHA Dental Assessments
- Work with your local health department to offer on-site screening events
- Share information about KOHA through your various communication channels
- Encourage parents to get their child screened
- Provide information on where the screenings can be done including any dates and times of on-site screenings
- Raise awareness among children and family about the importance of good oral health
