CSHCS INFO #14-2018 - Reporting Medicare changes to TPL
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 3:21 PM
Dear Colleagues:
As a reminder, it is the LHD’s responsibility to report any health insurance changes to a client’s Third Party Liability (TPL) record. These insurance changes include Medicare eligibility (i.e., Part A, Part B, Part C or Part D). Medicare Part C is the Medicare Advantage Plan and Medicare Part D is the drug plan. Medicaid policy indicates if a client has Medicare Part A, that client must have Medicare Part B. CSHCS follows Medicaid policy in this regard.
When working with a client, if you learn that a client has Part A but does not have Part B, please call the Insurance Specialist at CSHCS for guidance.
The link to notify TPL of any health insurance coverage change is: https://minotifytpl.state.mi.us/tedpublic/coveragerequests/index. Keeping the most accurate Third Party Liability record protects the client from experiencing access to care and billing issues.
If you have any questions regarding the reporting of Medicare, or any other insurance change, please contact Amy Chapko at chapkoa@michigan.gov or (517) 241-8998.
Thank You.
