Online Learning Opportunities

The Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs offers online learning opportunities for families of children with special health care needs and the professionals who care for them. These online webinars offer resources, information, and skill development on relevant topics related to children with special health care needs. They are led by seasoned parent staff and/or guest speakers with expertise in the topic. They are open to anyone to attend including parents, family members, youth, professionals, educators, public health, medical providers, etc.

  • Insurance Denials 101

    DATE: January 20, 2026

    This webinar will cover basic information related to appealing insurance denials. Topics include understanding your coverage, common terminology, and steps for filing an effective appeal. We will also share other helpful tips and resources for assistance. Two times are available to accommodate family schedules.

    Camp Scholarship for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN)

    The Family Center offers Camp Scholarships to increase accessibility to summer camp for children and youth with special health care needs.  Join us to learn about eligibility and how to apply. You'll also hear how the camp experience can help your child gain a sense of belonging, build relationships, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

    Children with Special Needs (CSN) Fund 101

    The Children with Special Needs Fund provides family-centered support to help families obtain equipment to enhance quality of life and promote health and mobility for their children. Join us to learn more about eligibility, the application process, and types of items covered by the CSN Fund.

    An Introduction to TEFRA

    Join us for an Introduction to TEFRA, a pathway to Medicaid for children with complex needs. This program makes Medicaid available to children with certain physical and/or behavioral disabilities who would not otherwise be eligible due to parent or guardian's income. CSHCS Nurse Consultant Caitlin Conroy will give an overview of the program’s eligibility requirements, and how to apply. Two times are available to accommodate family schedules.

    Healthcare Transition and Your Child: What Parents Need to Know!
