LANSING – The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) Director James K. Haveman is pleased to announce the appointment of Gene Adamczyk to the position of Senior Policy Executive-Director of the Office of Health Services Inspector General. Adamczyk began his new position November 11, 2013.
"After a distinguished 31 year career with the Michigan State Police, Gene joined MDCH in March of this year," said James K. Haveman, Director of the MDCH. "With his background and experience in leadership, I’m confident that he will excel in his new role within our office."
The MDCH Office of Health Services Inspector General is responsible for detecting and investigating Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse. As the Director, Adamzcyk will provide leadership to a team of healthcare fraud investigators that audit and investigate suspected misuse of Michigan's Medicaid program. The office recovers overpayments, issues administrative sanctions, and refers cases of suspected fraud for criminal investigation and prosecution to ensure that Medicaid money is used for the best care of the beneficiaries.
Prior to joining MDCH, Adamczyk worked for the Michigan State Police for 31 years, where he most recently served as the Inspector, Assistant First District Commander since 2008. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University and his Master’s in Public Administration from Western Michigan University.
