Self Learning Units Overview

Welcome to the Great Start Trauma Informed System online self-learning units. The units are designed to provide information about trauma and toxic stress. The units are for use by different groups including:

  • Child care providers
  • Early childhood educators
  • Home visitors
  • Parents and caregivers
  • Doctors

The units contain links to presentations by experts about

  • Early brain and child development
  • Effects of trauma/toxic stress on young children
  • Lessening the effect of childhood trauma and toxic stress

They are designed for individual, online learning. Each unit takes 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete and they can be viewed singly or as a package. Each unit also includes:

  • Other materials about the topic
  • Post-test and feedback form
