June 18 2026 Healthy Kids Dental Plan Changes
In the coming months, MDHHS will begin the transitioning process for HKD beneficiaries.
- July 1: No new enrollments into Blue Cross Blue Shield HKD plan
- October 1: HKD beneficiaries enrolled in Blue Cross Blue Shield will automatically be enrolled in Delta Dental.
Providers currently accepting both HKD plans
Providers who accept both the Blue Cross Blue Shield and Delta Dental HKD plans will notice minimal changes. Prior authorizations approved by Blue Cross Blue Shield will be honored by Delta Dental for 90 days from enrollment.
Providers only accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan HKD plan
Providers who only accept the Blue Cross Blue Shield HKD plan have the option of joining the Delta Dental HKD provider network. However, if a provider chooses to remain outside of the Delta Dental provider network, HKD members will be reassigned to a participating provider upon enrollment into Delta Dental. https://www.deltadentalmi.com/join-our-networks.
If a beneficiary is in the middle of ongoing treatment and discontinuing the treatment would cause the beneficiary to suffer serious detriment to their oral health, you or the beneficiary may request “continuity of care” from Delta Dental to continue treatment for up to six (6) months.
Beneficiary Information
Beneficiaries enrolled in the Blue Cross of Michigan HKD plan will receive a notification of the upcoming change from MDHHS and Blue Cross Blue Shield. They will also receive a notice from Delta Dental when their plan changes. If beneficiaries have any questions, they may call:
