People Living with Low Socioeconomic Status

Adults with lower levels of education, who are unemployed or under-employed, or who live at or below the U.S. federal poverty level, are considered to have low socioeconomic status (Low SES).

In Michigan, the commercial tobacco use rate among people with low SES (48.1 percent) is more than double the statewide commercial tobacco use average (18.9 percent).

If you are interested in participating in future collaborative efforts to reduce commercial tobacco use among Michigan residents living with low socioeconomic status, please contact us at 517-335-8376.
