5.03 In-store Monitoring Visits
Effective Date: 08/01/2021
PURPOSE:
To describe the purpose and process of in-store monitoring visits conducted by the Department.
DEFINITIONS:
Monitoring visit means an announced or unannounced visit conducted by the Department to evaluate Vendor compliance with WIC Program requirements.
POLICY:
- The Department shall conduct monitoring visits to evaluate Vendor compliance with WIC Program requirements.
- Monitoring visits may include review of:
- Minimum stock requirements;
- Shelf prices;
- Vendor signage and educational materials;
- Transaction procedures;
- Inventory records; and
- General compliance with WIC Program requirements.
- Minimum stock requirements;
- Monitoring visits may be conducted on a routine basis or in response to complaints, investigations, or high-risk indicators.
- Vendors shall provide Department representatives access to all areas, records, and documentation necessary to complete the monitoring visit.
- The Department shall document the results of the monitoring visit and may require corrective actions or impose sanctions when violations are identified.
